Most settlements are concentrated in the island’s central plateau and the oldest is the Castle, typical example of the Venetian architecture. The Castle retains even today its medieval character. Perched on a steep cliff, to the eastern side of the island, remains one of the most beautiful areas of the island and certainly the best place to enjoy the sunset.

A big part of the island has been included in the European network of protected areas, Natura 2000, while the North Sifnos is included in the Important Bird Areas of Greece. Here you will find rare species such as the peregrine falcon and the Hobbies. To enjoy the beauties of the Sifno’s landscape, it’s worth to walk marching in intact ancient paths.

In Artemonas, you will find neoclassical mansions with flower gardens. From Glifo starts one of the most walked cobblestone paths of Sifnos, that leads to Apokofto Beach and Chrissopigi, with the deep bluegreen water. In the beach of Kamares there is a possibility of renting equipment for wind surfing.

Apollonia, the island’s capital, is built amphitheatrically on three hills. Wander around the cobblestone streets and enjoy the harmony of colors. White-washed houses with flower gardens on the rooftops, next to small chapels with ornate steeples!

Fifty five ancient towers scattered throughout the island. Built from the 6th to the 3rd centuries BC, functioned as beacons, were sending smoke and fire signal in the ancient citadels. The best surviving tower of Sifnos is the White Tower, on the road to Platis Gialos.
